Blissful Coron Palawan

Image
Palawan is the Philippines last ecological frontier.  Calamianes group of islands is one of the most beautiful, located in the northernmost part of Palawan.  Busuanga Island is the biggest, which also includes Culion, Calauit, Coron, and Linapacan.  The gateway to the nearby islands is Coron.      We arrived in Busuanga Airport in a gloomy weather.  The summer getaway with friends turned out to be rainy.  But that doesn’t stop our outdoor mode.      From Busuanga Airport we rode a van that took us to Coron.  While traversing the rough road on the way to Coron is a scenic view of green fields, abundant trees and mountains on both sides. Where to Stay?      After the 45 min. ride we reached the Coron town at 11 AM.  We belittle ourselves at Krystal Lodge, with nipa hut cottages right on the water.  Some of the places to stay in are Sea Dive, Darayonan Inn, Discovery Divers, Vil...

Majestic Mayon and Whale Encounter

Albay and Sorsogon were not on my list for 2009 travel plan, not until when Cebu Pacific had a zero all-inclusive promo last December 24-25, 2008.  Since  Manila-Legaspi City had the lowest roundtrip airfare of Php 56, I booked it right away before it’s too late just knowing a little information about the province.      I researched first about the tourist spot, the mode of transportation, where to stay, and what to eat on the internet.  My friends and I usually do this in order for us to plan the itinerary and the budget.  Only to find out from blogs of travelers who have been there that there are many places to see.      We traveled to Legaspi City last February 21, 2009.  Our flight was delayed for an hour because of the bad weather.  During the flight, the pilot announced that we will be forced to return in Manila if the weather will not be good for our landing.  Of course, nobody wants that...

Macau: Historic and Modern Structures

Image
We arrived in Macau on Sept. 9 at around 10:30 PM.  Since one of my companions has a friend in Macau, she helped us find a nice hotel right in the center of the city.      We checked in at East Asia Hotel located in Rua da Madeira for only MOP 850 per night.  This older hotel’s prime location is just 5 minutes walk from Macau’s Historic Centre – Senado Square which makes it a good choice for budget travelers like us.      The next day, we woke up early to start our sight seeing around Macau.  But before that we looked first for a money changer to change our remaining HK dollars to Pataca.  We found one not that far from our hotel .      While walking on our way to KFC, we saw this new grand building of Casino Lisboa and in front of it was the old building.  After 15 minutes walk, we saw the Circle of Arc, and from there you could see the Guia Fort and Lighthouse stands on the Guia ...

Hong Kong: Thrills and Fun

Image
Last September 7-9, 2008, we used all our energy for everyday whole day of fun, thrills, and adventure in Hong Kong.  So many attractions to see, to dine and shop.      First stop is Hong Kong Ocean Park.  The land area is so big that we were not able to check some other rides.          To my surprise I bumped with my cousins and nephews.  I had no idea that they will be in Hong Kong too!  I also saw my officemate and celebrities Alex Crisano and Ethel Booba.  We left the Ocean Park at around 6PM and proceeded to our next trip at The Peak.      The following day we shopped at Citygate.  In the evening, at Temple Market and Jade Market.  We became a shopaholic in two days because of Hong Kong Summer Sale great discounts.      On our last day, we went to Disneyland Resort for a fun and magical experience.  Then, we headed to Macau via ferry boat that n...

First Day in Hong Kong

Image
New adventures, new world to explore.  I thought traveling for the first time outside my country would be a great experience but I encountered a bad experience like any other travelers.      Upon our arrival in Hong Kong International Airport, we lined up to the immigration for visitors.  But one officer ordered us to line up at the last cubicle.  Since we don’t understand her English accent, we just followed her only to find out that the last cubicle was for overseas workers.  We returned at the visitor’s line and we were stopped again by that officer.  That was the time I complained that how come we could not line there since we are all visitors.  Anyway, she apologized for her mistake.      After the four of us passed the immigration, one of our companions was held.  We waited for her for almost 2 hours.  According to her, they interviewed first the Chinese and Caucasian peo...

Stoked in San Juan

Image
Last May 2008, my bestfriend and I, suddenly became interested in going to San Juan, La Union, where the good waves is.  We left Manila at the ungodly hour of 4AM, and nine hours later, we found ourselves in San Juan.      We stayed at Normi’s Beachfront Resort, owned by a Filipina and French couple.  Though the resort was just 15 minutes ride to the camp site, it was still for the better because the bungalows were in native style, cool, clean, with comfortable bed, and with swimming pools.  They offer surfing lesson managed by Liquid Body Surf Camp ( www.liquid-body.com ).      After our lunch, we were so tired from our long bus ride, so we had our two hours sleep first to regain our energy.  At 4PM we headed to the surf camp to learn surfing.      The beach has dark gray sand, blue clean waters, and waves as high as one meter.  Resorts line up the beach from expensive to t...
